My AE Modular system is mostly made from early modules and, as you can see from the photo, is currently a blank slate, awaiting its next inspired encounter. It's been a while since I played the patch that hides within the piece that is shared on this compilation, and I don't have detailed records of exactly how things were configured originally, but brief notes do remind me that it was based on Noise running through the Filterbank914, then through Cirrus, and into the Mix Console where I vaguely recall mixing parallel processed versions, possibly using the delay and filters. I might also have used some feedback. I had just installed these newer modules, and so it was time to play and see what they could do. An improvisation from it was recorded into Ableton where I then went through a further secondary process a few days later, recording a remastered track that was taken from the improvisation being played through a signal chain of effects - mostly stock Ableton, but also some Sound Toys plugins too. The effects were automated, but the recording of their automation through this processing stage was also improvised as well. A similar third process was repeated more recently when I recalled this compilation was being put together. I then extracted a short section from that to share here. I recorded a final pass from this extract, filtering things a bit, looping a little at the beginning, and then introducing some reverb towards the end.

It's hard to pick a track but the opening bits of Sunsmack let you know what you're in for and the rest of the EP doesn't let up at all. Fantastic all the way through. J Brandt

Saw the YouTube video for this one and had to pick it up ASAP. Hainbach and Look Mum No Computer are both stellar but this little collaboration is truly out of this world. osmotic
