The track uses SAMPLYR as the only oscillator / source of sound.
Mixed in Ableton Live, where mainly reverb and a bit of panning got added.
Other modules used are: TOPOGRAF, SEQ8, SEQ16, QUANTIZER, GRUNGE FILTER, MODULATORS, ADSR and DELAY.
The patch in the photo is like this: Topograf drives the sequencers which modify the pitch and sample-selection on SAMPLYR and trigger the ADSR. ADSR modulates a VCA. SAMPLYR’s audio goes to GRUNGE FILTER and the VCA, which goes to DELAY to be recorded.
In addition to generated sequences there are also some parts played with that small keyboard in the picture, but the same patch was used for that as well.
The title „Mondkalb“ is German for Mooncalf and refers to an old TV show for children, where a calf actually lived on the moon. For no apparent reason, I remembered that character while working on the track, hence the name.
BTW: Until this very day I was not aware of any possible negative meanings of the term and thus nothing of that kind is intended.
It's hard to pick a track but the opening bits of Sunsmack let you know what you're in for and the rest of the EP doesn't let up at all. Fantastic all the way through. J Brandt
Saw the YouTube video for this one and had to pick it up ASAP. Hainbach and Look Mum No Computer are both stellar but this little collaboration is truly out of this world. osmotic
